I don't know about running on a USB stick, but for Windows at least it wants to download and install a 15MB install of Python and maybe other stuff. So, if you already have this large infrastructure that is not typical on Windows, then maybe there is a way to run it as a stand-alone app.

If there is any podcatcher that stands out from the crowd, then it would have to be Miro. It is a tonne better than the Zune software or iTunes or any of the others mentioned here.

If this is supposed to be a current list, you might want to do a little editing. Some of these shows haven't put out episodes for at least a year, or were publicly cancelled by the host(ess).

A Witch's Primer hasn't put out a show since April 2010.
Earth & Magick's last show was in November 2010
Gaia the Witch only has 3 episodes, and the last one was in January 2010.
Geek Witch - April 2010, though I think she's doing something on YouTube now.
Great Oak Podcast has 6 shows and the last one came out in 2009.
Spirit of Life only put out 1 show and that was in the summer of 2010.
Spiritscast was cancelled by the hostess in 2010.
Witchery of One was also cancelled by the host in 2010.

Several other shows haven't put out shows in 6+ months.

This list would be much more helpful if it were current. But, it's a nice start! Hopefully someone will take the time to edit it.

I wish you could have expressed any of this to me directly. I also love how you have warped why I didn't want elections until people were willing to commit more. And completely invented why Firelyte left of his own volition.

Just a followup for those looking to automate transcriptions of hundreds of hours of content, many podcasters outside the Pagan podcasting community have noted that Dragon Naturally Speaking 11.5 Premium allegedly transcribes podcasts quite well, even with multiple voices and without voice training. It retails for $199 but often can be found on sale for less. Oh yeah, you can just feed it your MP3 files - no weird audio setups needed.

PCP currently plans to experiment with this in 2012.

Unfortunately, some podcasts sound like someone is continuously fondling the mic-stand, endlessly causing distracting noise, and for those with hearing difficulties, sometimes making the speech incomprehensible.

And please, new podcasters, learn the difference between actual Feedback, and Latency.

Yeah, Patrick can get... passionate. Tripods even for audio recorders from now on :D.

Spongy mouse pads trick though is absolutely valid, but with this type of table thumping, wouldn't do much.

And don't forget to isolate mics from vibrations such as finger tapping, table thumping, dragging things across the surface the mic stand it on.

One good thing for that is one of those older mouse pads, the thick and spongy kind. Otherwise, perhaps one of the heavy-weight roll-up pads for putting under a sleeping bag on the ground, cut into pieces for carrying in the mic kit.

This is terrific, and yes, I believe this is the first all Pagan Press conference. I was the first Pagan reporter to get press credentials at the Parliament of the World Religions, and in 21 years of Pagan Journalism, I never saw a press conference for the Pagan Press. So this is one to mark in the history books.
